Christmas is coming - Advent magic at Admont Abbey

When gentle snowflakes fall over the Gesäuse and a peaceful silence envelops the landscape, the special magic of Advent awakens at Admont Benedictine Abbey. Here, in the heart of Upper Styria, you can feel the warm anticipation of the greatest celebration of the year - the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.

With loving traditions such as the Christkindl post office, the festive sounds of the Weisenbläser brass band and the lively nativity scene, the wait for Christmas becomes an unforgettable experience full of warmth and contemplation.

The wintry Admont Abbey presents itself in mystical splendour and invites you to enjoy peaceful, touching moments amidst historic monastery walls. At the annual Advent in Admont Abbey on the third weekend of Advent, you will experience an atmosphere full of warmth, enjoyment and festive inspiration.

Look forward to an aromatic mulled wine, homemade rye doughnuts and discover artistic handicrafts, lovingly crafted bonnets, candles and unique jewellery - everyone will find their own personal Christmas wonder here.

Immerse yourself in the magic of Advent at Admont Abbey - where tradition and magic bring Christmas to life!

An experience in a special ambience - Advent at Admont Abbey

The unique flair of Admont Abbey makes Advent something very special - but it is above all the traditional highlights and the varied programme that enchant young and old alike.

Children's eyes light up in the Christmas post office, where they can send their wish letters to the Christ Child and look forward to a personalised reply. In the museum workshop, the little ones can enjoy making lovely Christmas presents, marvelling at the impressive nativity scene in the collegiate church or riding the ponies. Festive church services get everyone in the mood for the festive season.

Gourmets are also catered for: "Taste through the Gesäuse" is the motto with regional specialities such as hearty Ennstal rye bread, delicious Styrian cheese doughnuts, sweet angel curls or the popular Gesäuse burger.

Experience Advent with all your senses - in the atmospheric Admont Abbey!
